Mindfulness Meditation

Meditation picture Mindfulness Based Stillness Meditation Course is an introduction to meditation and includes:

  • Calming the Body
  • Calming the Mind
  • From Mindfulness into Stillness
  • Mindfulness in Daily Life
  • Imagery
  • Expanding Meditation
  • The Complete Practice
Participants will be invited to actively take part in the sessions. Theory and supporting evidence of the effectiveness of mindfulness and meditation will be the foundation for practice carried out during the sessions.

By the end of the sessions, participants will be more familiar with mindfulness meditation and its practice and will have developed the skills required to continue building upon their practice in every day life.

Course Outline

Session 1 Introduction to Meditation
The goals, preparatory techniques learning to relax the body.

Session 2 Calming the body-relaxing the body
A relaxed body is the foundation for a relaxed mind. Learn how to release tension, unwind and let go.

Session 3 Calming the mind - Concentration and Mindfulness
Assist you to become aware of, and comfortable with, the present experience. Discover your tranquillity.

Session 4 From Mindfulness into Stillness
How being mindful of thought can lead to awareness of stillness.

Session 5 Mindfulness in Daily life
Integrating Meditation into daily life. Mindfulness based pain management.

Session 6 Imagery -Directing the Power of the mind.
Nature and power of the mind. White light healing.

Session 7 Expanding Meditation -Contemplation, Loving Kindness
Practice to cultivate friendliness, goodwill and kindness toward ourselves and others. Helpful in dealing with external stressors.

Session 8 The Complete practice and Finale
Summary of key principles and techniques. Putting it together into daily practice. Program review and evaluation.

Course Information and Registration

The next Mindfulness Meditation course will be held over four consecutive Saturdays in February.

Details as follows:
Dates: Saturday 4th,11th,18th and 25th February,2012.
Location: 199 Broadmeadow Road, Broadmeadow
Time: 9.30-12.30 (comprising 2 x 90 minute sessions per day)
